Pick up your rental car and, if time allows, take a little time to explore downtown Boston. Stroll along the cobblestone streets, take in the historic architecture, and maybe grab a coffee or a bite at a cozy café tucked into one of the city’s charming neighborhoods. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, Boston’s blend of old-world charm and modern energy makes for the perfect start to your New England adventure.


Day 2: Lenox or Stockbridge, MA

Head west to the Berkshires and settle into the charming towns of Lenox or Stockbridge. Enjoy serene landscapes, art museums, and local charm.

In Lenox, when the world is this wide and green, adventure starts with a sprint and a stuffed animal in hand.

Norman Rockwell Museum – See iconic American art in a charming countryside setting.

Naumkeag – Wander through a stunning Gilded Age estate with terraced gardens and sweeping views.

Tanglewood – Attend a summer concert at the open-air venue that hosts the Boston Symphony Orchestra (seasonal).

Pro Tip: Take a scenic drive along Route 7 for lovely fall foliage if you're visiting in autumn.


Days 3–6: New York City, NY

Staying in New Jersey is a great option if you're traveling on a budget or want to avoid the hassle of parking in Manhattan. Public transit into the city is easy, reliable, and affordable—giving you quick access to everything New York has to offer.

Liberty State Park — Start your trip in Jersey City with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. While you're there, check out the Liberty Science Center, a family-friendly spot with interactive exhibits and one of the largest planetariums in the Western Hemisphere.
Central Park & More — Wander through Central Park’s lush trails, open meadows, and tranquil lakes. Whether you’re renting a rowboat at Loeb Boathouse, visiting the Central Park Zoo, or simply relaxing on the Great Lawn, it’s the perfect place to recharge in the heart of the city.

Day 8: Valley Forge, PA

Drive from Philidelphia and make a stop at Valley Forge National Historical Park to stretch your legs and immerse yourself in Revolutionary War history—it's the perfect detour on the way to Washington D.C.


Day 9–11: Washington, D.C.

Strolling the National Mall, D.C.’s iconic greenway, with the Washington Monument rising proudly on the horizon. A perfect place to walk, reflect, and take in the pulse of the capital.

Washington, D.C. isn't just politics — it's a city where history, culture, and curiosity collide. Tour iconic institutions like the Capitol and Supreme Court, wander through world-class museums, reflect at moving memorials, and don’t forget to swing by the National Zoo to say hi to the pandas. Whether you're chasing knowledge or just a great selfie with Lincoln, D.C. delivers inspiration on every corner.

The Nation’s Institutions — Explore the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Botanic Garden for a deep dive into government, justice, and natural beauty — all within walking distance.
Museums & Monuments — Visit the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Washington Monument, then continue to the memorial loop: Jefferson, Lincoln, MLK, Vietnam, and Korean War.

Day 13–14: Coastal Virginia

Wandering through Yorktown — a quiet corner of history wrapped in coastal beauty.

We based ourselves in Newport News — a surprisingly charming little town that turned out to be the perfect home base. Just a short drive from Williamsburg and other major Revolutionary War landmarks, it gave us easy access to the action without the crowds. One afternoon, we stumbled upon Yorktown — a quiet, riverside gem full of history and unexpected beauty. Virginia beaches are also a must!

Yorktown Battlefield — Walk the historic grounds where the final major battle of the American Revolution took place. The preserved earthworks and informative exhibits bring history vividly to life.
Outlook Beach — Unwind with a peaceful stroll or picnic along the York River. This small, sandy spot offers calm waters and scenic views — perfect for a midday break.


Day 15: Gettysburg, PA

A quiet moment at sunset in the Soldiers' National Cemetery, Gettysburg — where rows of headstones curve gently into the distance, honoring those who gave their lives in one of the most pivotal battles of the Civil War.

Gettysburg made for a meaningful and unforgettable stop on our journey. With its deep sense of history and quiet reverence, it offered us time to slow down, reflect, and connect before continuing on to the next leg of our adventure.

Gettysburg Battlefield — Step onto the hallowed grounds of one of the most pivotal battles in American history. Explore at your own pace with a self-guided driving tour or join a ranger-led program to hear powerful stories that bring the past to life.
Soldiers' National Cemetery — Reflect in the solemn beauty of this sacred site where President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address. The sweeping rows of headstones are a poignant reminder of the lives lost and the legacy they left behind.
Gettysburg Museum & Visitor Center — Dive deeper into the history with engaging exhibits, authentic Civil War artifacts, and the stunning cyclorama painting that immerses you in the battle’s intensity.

Foodie Tip: Grab a Gettysburger after a day of exploration — a flavorful bite of local pride and history.


Day 16: Lancaster, PA

An Amish buggy rolls through Lancaster’s peaceful countryside — timeless and tranquil.

Day 17: Saratoga Springs, NY

Stay overnight in Troy and spend the day exploring Saratoga National Historical Park and the historic Schuyler House—a quiet piece of Revolutionary history that still speaks to Hamilton fans today.


Day 18: Arrive in Maine

Head toward the coast of Maine and make a sweet stop at a local maple syrup farm along the way. It’s the perfect roadside treat. Consider staying overnight nearby to break up the drive and enjoy the scenic transition into Maine.


Day 19–22: Acadia National Park, ME

A perfect reflection in the heart of Acadia—where wild skies, still waters, and lush green mountains create a moment of pure Maine magic.

Spend a few days in Acadia National Park, where rugged coastlines, mountain views, and peaceful forests offer the perfect escape into nature.

Park Loop Road — Drive this scenic route for sweeping views of Acadia’s rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and crashing waves.
Cadillac Mountain — Wake up early to watch the sunrise from the highest point on the East Coast — the first place sunlight touches the U.S.
Acadia’s Coastal Trails — Hike along dramatic cliffs and forested paths for an up-close encounter with the park’s wild, wave-battered shoreline.


Day 23-25: Mid-Coast, ME

From summit to sea—Camden, Maine showing off with postcard perfection.

Day 26-32: Greater Boston, MA

Boston glows at twilight—modern towers and the iconic Zakim Bridge light up the night in this stunning cityscape.

Wrap up your trip with a mix of history, coastal charm, and urban fun.
